Draper is the transformation of a historic bungalow into a contemporary house in Charlotte’s Merry Oaks neighborhood. The architectural approach adds volumes for new entry and rear porches connected by a continuous light shaft that also serves as the main corridor through the house. The existing roof geometry absorbs the additions, morphing into a cohesive new shape. Spaces transition between vertical to horizontal as one moves from front to back.
